Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers and to all women who have the heart of a mother!

I greatly admire my own mother for striving hard to obtain a good education despite her family’s poverty. At 71, she remains hardworking, looking after us with love and devotion. Thank you, Mama, for all your love:-)

By the way, the history of Mother’s Day is very interesting. Did you know that the observance of Mother’s Day was started by Anna Jarvis, an American who never had children of her own? Read more about it here.

"A mother is a person who seeing there are only four pieces of pie for five people, promptly announces she never did care for pie." -- Tenneva Jordan

Belated Mother's Day to you. Enjoy the company of your mother while she is still alive.
My late mom came from Sagada with a "no read, no write" resume but became a successful businesswoman in Baguio. She was able to see six of her eight children graduate in college (except me and my younger brother, college dropouts).
"Everyone has a hero, she was always mine" even though she died without even writing her own name. I'm sure your mother is also your hero. Cheers

Thanks! I am enjoying her company, eventhough she can be "makulit" sometimes. Haha! Hey, maybe you could write more about your mother and we can post her insiring story here?:-) I think it's time we write more about "ordinary" Igorots who are extraordinary in their own way.

She was a beacon in my life. But thanks for the invite, maybe if she still alive, I would oblige. Then again, there are hundreds if not thousands like her who came from those remote mountains who did very well without the benefit of even the smallest of education.
Read Bill's blog about your impending scholarship to Wales and would like to say congratulations and goodluck. Am sure you will get to meet some of our kakailians in that part of the world. Cheers to you, English people are quite fond in saying that...
